June 2-10, 2018 Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Eastern Washington
Guides: Deborah Greene-Jacobi of EarthWays LLC and Ann Linnea and Christina Baldwin of Peerspirit
For the tenth year, Peerspirit is delighted to offer this wilderness quest for both men and women. If you are seeking to listen to your deepest nature, mark a transition in your life, to reconnect with your inner wisdom or to clarify a life situation, we invite you to join us in the beautiful forested land of the Eastern Cascade Mountains. Using Skalitude’s off-the-grid retreat center as a base camp, your guides will prepare you for a 48 hour solo in the wilderness by learning orientation, physical safety, wilderness ethics and the traditional quest practices of council, four shields teaching, wilderness solitude, fasting, and self generated ceremony. Upon return your stories will be shared, mirrored and confirmed in a council of elders by your guides and there will be time devoted to beginning incorporation.
Participants will provide their own equipment (list provided) for the solo time. All food will be provided. No prior camping experience is required. Hiking and other movement at this 3000ft elevation will not be strenuous
"I see the Feminine defined as a reconnection to the Self, a commitment to the wildness within our instincts, our capacity to create and destroy; our hunger for connection as well as sovereignty, interdependence and independence, at once.” – Terry Tempest Williams
One of a woman’s deepest longing is to be seen in her most natural, wild, and authentic self. Innately, she is stirred by an inner wisdom to reconnect to the sacredness embodied in nature, moved by a stirring desire to leave the safety of her personal and familiar borders as she travels her unique path. Perhaps the intensity of her yearning guides her to a hidden place where she discovers ways to break the chains of self- judgment that have held her back for so long, bringing her full circle to her true Self through the age-old practice of rites of passage.
She goes out alone, with an empty belly and bare essentials, into the expansive wilderness, for four days and four nights. There she will live in perfect solitude where she can clear away the distractions of her busy life and tune her ears to the voices of nature around her and to her own inner nature; the truth of her being.Perhaps you are one of the many women who have been called to this ceremony.
Perhaps it is time to move deeper into the questions: What is being asked of you? How do you begin to recognize the myth that guides your life? What is drawing you toward the threshold? This ceremony involves several days of preparation, 4 days and nights of fasting alone in a wilderness place, and a few days of incorporation
The Elder's Journey Four Shields of Eldering for Women
October 1-7, 2017 Offered by the School of Lost Borders Big Pine, CA
Guides: Sara Harris and Silvia Talavera
After a wildly successful launch of this program in 2015, Lost Borders is once again offering a specifically-designed experience to open the dialogue for women in various stages of Elderhood. Camping will be in Baker Creek campground, or there are local motel accommodations as well. The program will include daily missions into nature, a 24-hr. period of silence and contemplation that will also include a journey up to the Ancient Bristlecones, and daily councils to look deeply into opening into a conscious approach to growing older.
