SUMMARY:The Rhythms of Nature - The Nature of Rhythms - Series
DESCRIPTION:The Rhythms of Nature\nThe Nature of Rhythms\n\n\n\n\nBefore words\, rhythm shaped our way of being. \n\n\n\n\nA Four-Part Playshop Series  \n\n\n\n\n March 21st 3-5 PM\n\n\n\n\nApril 4th 3 -5 PM\n\n\n\n\nMay 2nd 3 -5 PM\n\n\n\n\nJune 6th 3 – 5 PM\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSebastopol Cultural Community Center\n\n\n\n\n390 Morris St\, Sebastopol\, Ca 95472\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n$120 for the series\n\n\n\n\nSliding Scale of $35 – $55 for individual classes\n\n\nO. Andrew Schreiber\n\n  \n\n\nThe natural world moves in rhythm — as do we. The beating of our mother’s heart is the first sound we hear\, the first rhythm we know. From breath to heartbeat\, from tides to seasons\, rhythm shapes our lives in ways both seen and unseen. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThrough rhythm and sound\, we can explore and deepen our relationship with the living world and with the pulse of our own lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nIn this four-part playshop series\, we explore rhythm\, sound and vibration as pathways for connection — to nature\, to ourselves\, and to community. Through deep listening\, simple rhythm-making\, playful practice and time shared in circle\, participants are invited to engage with the natural cycles that shape our lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nHeld in a safe and intentional circle\, this offering is experiential rather than performance-based\, welcoming all levels and all bodies. No musical experience is necessary. Hand drums and other handheld percussion instruments will be provided; participants are also welcome to bring their own. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact O at: o.aschreiber@gmail.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. Feel free to email with any questions you may have.\n \nPOLICIES & REGISTRATION INFORMATION\n \nEarthWays (EW) fills our programs on a first-come first-served basis. Registration requires a deposit and holds your place in the program you have selected. For the benefit of all\, EW screens participants to ensure compatibility with our programs that can sometimes be physically and psychologically challenging\, especially the outdoor daylong and overnight programs. We require participants to be in good physical\, mental and emotional health\, appropriate to the particular program of enrollment. EW reserves the right to refuse enrollment based on our assessment of these and other criteria. If you are not accepted for enrollment\, your deposit will be refunded in full.\n \nPolicies\n \nPlease take the time to carefully consider your decision to enroll in one of EW Programs; this decision represents a commitment to yourself and to us. Regarding our outdoor programs\, we have found that it is common and even appropriate for fear and resistance to arise when you are preparing to step out of your ordinary life and go into nature alone: obstacles\, (real or imagined\, inner or outer)\, may present themselves to you and it may seem impossible or too frightening to proceed with the program. These obstacles and fears are an important part of your experience\, and can serve to help you become clear about what your call to the wilderness means to you. Obstacles can pave the way for the insights and growth you will bring back to your daily life.\n \nDeposits:\n \nEach EW program requires a deposit to reserve a spot. Refer to each program for deposit amount. Deposits are non-refundable\, unless we cancel the program or you are not accepted into the program.\nAcknowledged\n \nCancellation:\n \nIf we are able to fill your reserved space from the waitlist your enrollment fee minus the deposit will be refunded to you.\nAcknowledged\n \nFees and Payments:\n \nPlease make the requested deposit for each program. Please pay via PayPal or check made out to EarthWays LLC\, cc “Name of Program”. If you are paying via PayPal\, please not a 3% surcharge will be included for each payment. The final payment for your program is due prior to start date of the program\, or you may bring a check payable to EarthWays LLC on the start date of the program.\nAcknowledged\n \n\nREGISTRATION FORM\n \nPlease fill out the registration form\, agree to terms and submit your deposit. I understand that such risks simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity.\n \n The risks include\, among other things: Slipping and falling; falling objects; water hazards; exhaustion; exposure to temperature and weather extremes which could cause hypothermia\, hyperthermia (heat-related illnesses)\, heat exhaustion\, sunburn\, dehydration; and exposure to potentially dangerous wild animals\, insect bites\, and hazardous plant life; accidents or illness can occur in remote places without medical facilities and emergency treatment or other services rendered; consumption of food or drink; equipment failure; improper lifting or carrying; my own physical condition\, and the physical exertion associated with this activity.\n \n	\n\n\n	\n Furthermore\, I also acknowledge that participating in an EW-LLC program and gathering in a group may expose me to infectious diseases including but not limited to COVID-19 – also referred to as "the coronavirus" and most officially as "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)". My potential exposure to any infectious disease entails known and unanticipated risks that could result in physical or emotional injury and even death. Contracting any infectious disease may cause damage to myself or to third parties. I understand that such risks simply cannot be entirely eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity.\n \n The risks include\, among other things: Becoming severely ill in remote areas that are far from definitive medical assistance. The closest medical facilities may not be able to effectively treat COVID-19 or other infectious diseases. Pre-existing medical conditions\, both known and unknown to the guides\, may increase the chances of injury or death. Despite efforts to screen all participants for signs or symptoms of infectious disease\, both before and during an EW-LLC program\, there is no way to ensure that all participants are free of infectious diseases before or while attending an EW-LLC program. EW-LLC will make good faith efforts to minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19 or infectious diseases\, but preventive measures undertaken by EW-LLC and its employees or contractors may not be effective at preventing such transmission.\n \n	\n\nFurthermore\, EW-LLC employees have difficult jobs to perform. They seek safety\, but they are not infallible. They might be unaware of a participant's fitness or abilities. They might misjudge the weather or other environmental conditions. They may give incomplete warnings or instructions\, and the equipment being used might malfunction.\n \n\n	\n I expressly agree and promise to accept and assume all of the risks existing in this activity. My participation in this activity is purely voluntary\, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks.\n \n	\n	\n I hereby voluntarily release\, forever discharge\, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless EW-LLC from any and all claims\, demands\, or causes of action\, which are in any way connected with my participation in this activity or my use of EW-LLC's equipment or facilities\, including any such claims which allege negligent acts or omissions of EW-LLC.\n \n	\n	\n Should EW-LLC or anyone acting on their behalf\, be required to incur attorney's fees and costs to enforce this agreement\, I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless for all such fees and costs.\n \n	\n	\n I certify that I have adequate insurance to cover any injury or damage I may cause or suffer while participating\, or else I agree to bear the costs of such injury or damage myself. I agree that if any portion of this agreement is found to be void or unenforceable\, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.\n \n	\n\nBy signing this document\, I acknowledge that if anyone is hurt or property is damaged during my participation in this activity\, I may be found by a court of law to have waived my right to maintain a lawsuit against EW-LLC on the basis of any claim from which I have released them herein.\n \nI have had sufficient opportunity to read this document. SUMMARY:Spring Enchantment
DESCRIPTION:Spring Enchantment\nApril 25\, 2026\n9am – 5pm \nSugarloaf Ridge State Park \n$150 – $275 sliding scale\nNon-refundable deposit $50.00\n(Scholarships available – please ask) \nReet Rannik Carías  \n“The world is full of magic things\, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”\n― W.B. Yeats \n  \nThis Enchantment Day Walk is an invitation to slow down\, open the senses\, and reconnect with the felt experience of awe. Through mindful walking in a place of beauty and meaning\, participants are guided to notice what evokes wonder\, both vast and subtle\, and to allow themselves to be moved by it. \nAwe has the capacity to gently loosen our habitual self-focus. When attention shifts outward\, to the rhythm of birdsong\, the movement of water\, the reach of tall trees\, or the intricate patterns of leaves and fungi\, we are reminded that we are part of something larger than ourselves. This experience can bring a sense of perspective\, humility\, and belonging\, often accompanied by renewed inspiration and care for others and the world we inhabit. \nResearch in psychology and neuroscience suggests that experiences of awe and “soft fascination” support nervous system regulation\, reduce stress\, and foster emotional well-being. Time spent in environments that invite curiosity rather than effortful attention can calm the mind\, lift mood\, and nurture a sense of connection—both inwardly and outwardly. In this way\, enchantment becomes not an escape\, but a restorative practice that supports our inner ecology while deepening our relationship with the living world. \nHeld in the vitality of spring\, this walk invites reflection on cycles of renewal and emergence. As buds open and landscapes shift toward abundance\, participants are encouraged to explore questions such as: What is stirring in me right now? What is ready to blossom? Where do I find joy\, beauty\, and wholeness in the simple act of being alive? \nIn a time when the natural world is often treated as a resource rather than a relative\, cultivating awe can become an act of care and devotion. This day walk offers space to rekindle wonder\, reverence\, and gratitude—allowing enchantment to inform how we move through the world and how we tend both the Earth and ourselves. \nThe day will unfold in a rhythm of circle\, contemplative walking\, and intentional solo time on the land\, designed to support enchantment\, awe and fascination. We will begin by co-creating an altar as a grounding practice\, inviting reflection on the more than humans that inspire us to feel enchanted! We will close in story council\, with witnessing and mirroring from the guide team to support meaning-making and the incorporation of insight into lived practice. \nWe acknowledge that the land upon which we offer this program is the unceded ancestral homeland of the Mishewal-Wappo people\, who have continuously lived there for thousands of years.  Their endurance and wisdom inspire us to continue our efforts to create an inclusive\, life-sustaining society that is in balance with Mother Earth. \nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact Reet (pronounced “Rhett) at: reetrannik@gmail.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. SUMMARY:Tending The Mother Wound
DESCRIPTION:Tending The Mother Wound\nA Contemplative Day Walk & Optional Solo Fast \nMay 23\, 2026\n9am – 5pm \nSugarloaf Ridge State Park \n$150 – $275 sliding scale\nNon-refundable deposit $50.00\n(Scholarships available – please ask) \nReet Rannik Carías  \n“How else can one claim one’s maternal heritage but by being blood and bone\, dirt and stone?”\n― Donna Goddard \n  \nOur mothers brought us into the world—and for many of us\, our relationship with “mother” is layered\, complex\, and unfinished. The mother wound can hold grief\, longing\, anger\, tenderness\, confusion\, and love all at once. This contemplative day walk offers space to gently tend that wound while being held by the wider embrace of Mother Earth. \nHeld on the weekend before Mother’s Day\, this program invites participants to slow down and listen inwardly. Rather than forcing reconciliation or gratitude\, we make space first for truth: \nWhat grief still needs to be felt?\nWhat was missing\, ruptured\, or never named?\nHow can we be authentic—without self-abandonment—in our relationship to mother? \nFor some\, healing may move toward gratitude or compassion. For others\, the medicine may come through connection with the land\, through cultivating an internal mother—a nurturing\, protective\, attuned presence capable of caring for the inner child. Inspired by Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families and Gestalt parts work\, this day supports the reclamation of inner authority and self-mothering as a path toward wholeness. \nThe day unfolds in a rhythm of circle\, contemplative walking\, and intentional solo time on the land\, supporting both emotional processing and integration. We will begin by co-creating a simple altar as a grounding practice\, inviting reflection on our relationships with our mother\, inner mother\, and Earth mother. Guided prompts and solo time will support participants in meeting what remains unresolved—allowing grief\, tenderness\, or clarity to arise at their own pace. \nParticipants will be invited (but never required) into a solo fast during their time alone on the land. This fast is symbolic rather than prescriptive\, offered as a way to listen more deeply to the body and psyche. Alternatives and modifications will be named\, honoring personal needs\, health considerations\, and nervous system capacity. \nWe will close the day in story council\, with witnessing and mirroring from the guide team to support meaning-making\, integration\, and the incorporation of insight into daily life. \nThis offering honors that our mothers\, too\, are children of nature\, shaped by their own wounds\, limitations\, emotional inheritance\, and lineages. As we tend the mother wound\, we do not rush healing. We allow what is true to be held\, trusting that from honest grief\, new forms of nourishment and care may emerge. Here\, the vastness and rhythm of the ocean offer a timeless mirror for our own inner nature. Together\, we step out of the pace of daily life and into a shared field of presence\, grounded in relationship with the living Earth. The ocean waves—their power\, impermanence\, and deep inner stillness—invite reflection on our own changing inner landscape. Here\, the ocean invites us to practice meeting change with openness\, and to rest in the vast awareness that remains when we let go. \nGrounded in earth-based awareness and Buddhist contemplation\, we will explore awakening not only for ourselves\, but as a relational\, compassionate\, and collective experience that benefits all beings. Through sitting meditation and deep listening with the land and sea\, we will reflect on the awakened nature that already abides within us and within the wider web of life. \nOur time together will include guided and silent sitting\, walking meditation along the shoreline\, Dharma reflections\, and opportunities for council-style sharing. With the ocean as teacher and sangha as container\, we are invited to listen deeply—to ourselves\, to one another\, and to the more-than-human world. \nThis offering is open to people at all stages of contemplative practice. No prior experience is necessary. SUMMARY:Spirit of Incorporation
DESCRIPTION:The Spirit of Incorporation\nJuly 25\, 2026\n9am – 5pm \nSugarloaf Ridge State Park \n$150 – $275 sliding scale\nNon-refundable deposit $50.00\n(Scholarships available – please ask) \nReet Rannik Carías  \nWhat can I do with what I know? without at the same time asking\, How can I be responsible for what I know?”\n― Wendell Berry \n  \nMany of us have touched moments of deep clarity and connection—through time in the wilderness\, fasting\, retreats\, ceremonies\, pilgrimages\, or other transformative experiences. These moments can reveal parts of ourselves that feel more whole\, alive\, and aligned. Yet the most meaningful work begins not in the peak experience itself\, but in how we return. \nThis contemplative day walk is an invitation into the practice of integration and incorporation—the intentional process of carrying and grounding insight back into daily life. Through mindful walking\, solo reflection\, and relationship with the land\, we will explore what parts of self are still asking to be embodied more fully. We will engage questions such as: \n\nWho were you in moments of deep connection or clarity? What practices or conditions helped you access your grief\, joy\, patience\, discipline\, or wholeness?\nHow might those qualities be cultivated and lived in your everyday world?\n\nWithout integration\, even the most powerful experiences can fade or become compartmentalized. This program offers space to slow down\, listen\, and ask: If you were gifted a vision for how you could live\, how will you walk with it? How will you take responsibility for what you now know? \nThe day will unfold in a rhythm of circle\, contemplative walking\, and intentional solo time on the land\, designed to support integration and your process of incorporation. We will begin by co-creating an altar as a grounding practice\, inviting reflection on the transformative experiences that have shaped us and the new parts of self that were shown to us in those settings. Through guided prompts and time alone\, participants will be invited to reflect on what from previous transformative peak experiences remains unfinished—what insights\, practices\, or ways of being are asking to be more fully integrated and embodied in daily life. SUMMARY:Listening to the Land - Sounding Our True Nature
DESCRIPTION:Listening to the Land –\nSounding Our True Nature\n\n\nA daylong immersion with the elements\, sounds\, and rhythms of the Earth \n\n\n  \nSaturday\, August 8\, 2026\n10am – 4pm \n\n\nSebastopol Community Center\n390 Morris St\, Sebastopol\, CA 95472 \nSliding Scale Pricing $150-250\n$75 deposit \nO. Andrew Schreiber \n& Linds West Roberts – Guest Guide \n\n\n\n\nNature offers us a constant sound bath. Throughout our lives\, sound carries our grief\, our joy\, our longing\, and our gratitude. This daylong program is an invitation to intentionally open our ears and our hearts — to listen deeply to the natural world and to the sounds arising from our own souls. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we will explore sound as a pathway into the elements that serve as a map of wholeness that integrates our child\, adolescent\, adult\, and elder selves. Many of us have not had space to express or be witnessed in the full range of our sounds — the wails of grief\, the rhythms of joy\, the cries of anger\, or the melodies of gratitude. Through listening and sound-making\, we will explore how these expressions can transform\, release\, invite\, and honor the life-force energy of our lives. \nThe day begins with a council circle. Participants will then cross a threshold into a period of solo time in nature\, listening and dialoguing with the land as an invitation into deeper presence and attunement with the sounds and vibrations nature continuously offers. \nIn the afternoon\, we return as a collective to explore the sounds of the elements together. Using our voices as instruments — along with body percussion\, human-made instruments\, and nature-offered sound — we will create a shared soundscape that reflects our lived experience. Participants are invited to engage their voices\, and hands and feet as their primary instruments. No instruments are required. Attendees are also welcome to bring acoustic instruments such as hand drums and percussion instruments\, guitar\, banjo\, uke\, flutes\, or other portable instruments to support our collective sound-making. We will have small hand drums and percussion instruments available for group use. \nThe focus of this exploration is not performance\, but authenticity. We soften our ideas of what sounds are “good” or “beautiful” and instead align with what is true. From this place\, we embody and integrate the wisdom of our lives through sound\, and offer it back to the human community. All musical abilities and levels are welcome. \n  \nLinds West Roberts’ bio-\nLinds West (pronouns they/them/theirs) is a modern-day bard\, eco-chaplain\, and facilitator who weaves together mindfulness\, storytelling\, movement\, and nature connection in service of collective liberation and healing. They created Gather the Wild Collective as a place to collaborate in offering customized classes\, workshops\, and retreats for groups and individuals that combine movement\, play\, stillness\, and creativity. This work is an offering towards collective liberation and social change that brings joy together with grief. Linds is committed to intersectional social change in support of racial\, gender\, and environmental justice\, knowing these are deeply connected with all forms of social oppression. Linds also offers one on one consultations and accompaniment to folks seeking companionship for transitions and shared holding of life’s deep questions. They bring their fourteen years as an educator\, librarian\, and facilitator together with their mindfulness and creative practices. They have explored the academic path as a librarian and professor\, and are now returning to a call to embrace wilderness\, to remember their own true nature\, and to connect others with theirs. Learn more about them at lindsroberts.com \n  \nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact O at: o.aschreiber@gmail.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. SUMMARY:Wild Roots\, Sky Mind
DESCRIPTION:Wild Roots\, Sky Mind\n\n\n\n\nA 4-Day Contemplative Retreat\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nAugust 20 – 23\, 2026\n\n\n\n\nBohemia Ecological Preserve\, Sonoma County\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCynthia Eisho Morrow & Roy Remer\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n$550-800 sliding scale\n\n\n\n\n$150 non-refundable deposit to hold your place\n\n\n\n\nFee includes land use and catered dinners\n\n\n\n\n\n(Scholarships available – please inquire) \n\n\n\n  \nJoin us on a beautiful 1\,000-acre protected preserve in the western hills of Sonoma County\, the\nancestral homeland of the Pomo and Coast Miwok people. Over four days and three nights\, this\nland of old-growth forests\, oak woodlands\, coastal meadows\, and sweeping vistas will serve as\nboth setting and mirror—reflecting the depth\, resilience\, and expansiveness of our own inner\nnature. \nDrawing together core teachings from wilderness rites of passage and the Dharma\, we will explore\nfour qualities of the awakened heart-mind: Loving-kindness\, Compassion\, Appreciative Joy\, and\nEquanimity. Through guided inquiry and lived experience\, we will ask: How do these qualities\nshow up in our own lives? How do we meet our authentic struggles\, joys\, pain\, love\, and sorrow?\nAnd how might we engage the complexity of our world by opening to it\, rather than turning away? \nWith the wilderness as our teacher\, companion\, and witness\, we will explore how being rooted in\nthe living earth supports the heart-mind in opening to its inherent\, sky-like nature. Held within\nthe attentive care of circle\, participants are invited to walk this path of awakening alongside other\nkind and sincere humans. \nThe retreat will include tent camping and a rhythm of contemplative practices such as guided\,\nsilent\, and walking meditation. We will court stillness\, silence\, and the deep well of inner knowing\nthrough Dharma talks\, council sharing\, solo time on the land with intention\, and story sharing\nwith reflective mirroring from the guides. \nSimple\, nourishing vegetarian dinners are included and will be provided each evening. Participants\nare responsible for all other meals and for bringing their own camping gear. The Preserve operates\non a model of reciprocal relationship where visitors maintain the land they enjoy. Participants will\nbe asked to participate in a short period of mindfully engaging in various tasks depending on\nspecific seasonal needs and the participants’ abilities. \nAll are welcome. No prior meditation or wilderness experience is necessary—only a willingness to\nbe present\, curious\, and open. \nBohemia Ecological Preserve is located on the ancestral homeland of the Pomo and the Coast \nMiwok people\, past\, present\, and future. The nearest federally recognized tribes are Federated Indians of \nGraton Rancheria and the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians. We recognize them as the first people and the \nfirst stewards of this land. We are on occupied territory and acknowledge the ongoing devastation of \ncolonization. \nThis 1\,000 acre protected open space preserve stewarded by LandPaths in partnership with a private \nlandowner\, in the western hills of Sonoma County\, is a land of old-growth forests\, oak woodlands\, and \ncoastal meadows. The land is home to several endangered and at-risk species of flora and fauna\, including \nnorthern spotted owls\, red tree voles\, and Pennell’s bird’s beak. \nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact Cynthia/Eisho at: eisho@cynthiamorrow.com or Roy Remer at: roy@caregiving.org \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. To register\, complete this form and submit your deposit using the Agree and Pay Deposit button below. We have scholarships and payment plans available; please contact us to apply. SUMMARY:The Four Shields of Masculinity
DESCRIPTION:The Four Shields of Masculinity\nStepping Into Purpose\nAn EarthWays program for Men \nSeptember 6 thru 12\, 2026\nMojave National Preserve \n$900 – $1\,400 (Limited number of scholarships available)\n($300 nonrefundable deposit by June 6th to hold your spot) \n“Everyone has been made for some particular work\,\nand the desire for that work has been put in every heart.”\n—Rumi \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur lives\, and the world we live in\, are changing fast. At times life and all we cherish can feel beyond our power to shape. How do we\, as men\, meet the demands and challenges of these times? \nTo move more fully in our lives we can consider the questions – What does it mean to be a man in these times? Who am I now? Who do I want to become? How do I live my life with purpose? What wounds need healing\, and what gifts do I have to share? \nEach of us meets the challenges of life in our own unique way. Is your way serving you? Is it time to step back and gain clarity on what a balanced and conscientious expression of the masculine means for you? We encourage you to take this time to explore your life questions in ceremony\, and in wild nature. \nDuring this week-long program you can expect daily check-ins\, guided and silent meditations\, and sharing council to prepare for a 24 hour solo fast. We’ll offer teachings on physical safety\, right relationship to the land\, rites of passage\, and honoring the native inhabitants of the land. \nWe invite anyone who identifies as Male to join us in the beautiful Mojave National Preserve with a group of others dedicated to finding their greatest purpose in this one precious life. \nWe at EarthWays acknowledge that the lands upon which we offer our programs are the unceded ancestral homelands of the indigenous people who have lived here for thousands of years. While we are committed to cultivating healing and balance between modern-day humans and the Earth\, there is much healing and reparation work yet to be done with the Native communities who have been persecuted and exploited for centuries. It is with deep respect and gratitude that we honor the Pomo\, Coast Miwok\, Wappo\, Kashaya\, Ohlone\, Shoshone\, Paiute\, and Mojave peoples of California. Their endurance and wisdom inspire us to continue our efforts to create an inclusive\, life-sustaining society that is in balance with Mother Earth. \nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact Roy at roymremer@gmail.com or O at o.aschreiber@gmail.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. This is a day of shared practice\, presence\, and belonging—rooted in relationship with the living Earth. Guided by the mirror of the land and the wisdom of contemplative practice\, we will create a container spacious enough to hold the “ten thousand joys and sorrows” of our worldly lives. In difficult times\, we can either close down or allow the heart-mind to open. Together\, we invite opening and insight to arise through stillness\, silence\, and the illuminating shared stories of our lives. \nIn fall\, the land turns toward ripening and release—light softening\, leaves loosening\, the year’s labor slowly returning to the soil. This seasonal turning invites us to sense what within us has matured through lived experience\, and what we are ready to set down. Together\, we practice honoring the fullness of what has been\, cultivating gratitude\, discernment\, and a gentle willingness to let go—trusting the larger rhythms that carry us through change and into what comes next. \nGrounded in the Dharma and earth-based awareness\, this day offers an opportunity to practice awakening not only for ourselves\, but as a relational and collective experience that benefits all beings. Through sitting meditation and solo time on the land\, we will reflect on the awakened nature that already abides within us and within the wider web of life. \nOn the ancestral homeland of the Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok peoples\, Open Sky offers a spacious meditation hall and eight acres of land to wander\, with grazing sheep and a guardian llama\, panoramic views\, gazebos\, gardens\, and abundant birdlife—each inviting a fuller experience of the present moment. \nOur day together will include guided and silent meditation\, Dharma themes for reflection\, time for walking the land with intention\, and council-style sharing. With the land as teacher and sangha as container\, participants are invited to listen deeply—to themselves\, to one another\, and to the more-than-human world. \nAwakened Earth Sangha welcomes people at all stages of contemplative practice. No prior experience is necessary. All that is asked is a willingness to arrive with curiosity\, care\, and an open heart. \nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact Cynthia/Eisho at: eisho@cynthiamorrow.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information. SUMMARY:Honoring Those Who Have Walked Before
DESCRIPTION:Honoring Those Who Have Walked Before \n\n\n\n\nFootprints Into the Future \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nOctober 24\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\n9am – 5pm \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nOpen Sky Retreat Space \n\n\n\n\nWest Sebastopol \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n$150 – $275 sliding scale \n\n\n\n\nNon-refundable deposit $75 \n\n\n\n\n(Scholarships available – please ask) \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCynthia Eisho Morrow and O. Andrew Schreiber \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n“The spirits of the dead may be invoked for the good of the living” \n\n\n\n\n-Shinto saying \n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDeepening into fall\, we enter a season of remembrance—a threshold time for honoring those who have walked before us. As the days shorten and the energy of the earth returns to its roots\, we are invited to pause and listen to what the past continues to offer. \nRemembering the gifts and shadows of those who came before helps cultivate discernment as we dream our way into the future. Who were our ancestors\, near and far—whose shoulders do we stand upon? How did they live\, and how did they die? \nAcross cultures and histories\, human life has carried destructive patterns of oppression\, marginalization\, exploitation\, and war\, alongside profound goodness—a longing for dignity\, hope for future generations\, and a deep capacity for generosity and love. In this season of turning\, we gently inquire: what did it look like when our people lived in greater balance with the Earth and with one another? What survival patterns\, individually and collectively\, might we be ready to transform or release? \nThis day is offered as a ceremonial space—part remembrance\, part release\, part intentional choosing. Together\, we gather to remember our ancestors\, however we wish to define them\, and to listen for the wisdom that can emerge when the past is held with honesty and care. From this listening\, we explore how we might carry forward what is life-giving\, while laying down what no longer serves. \nWe may reflect upon ancestors in our direct family lines\, our cultural and spiritual lineages\, and the lands and peoples who have shaped us. Within a safe and intentional container\, we will explore—through council-style sharing\, earth wisdom\, and shared ritual—what is ready to be honored\, healed\, or tended. \nOur time together will include co-creating an ancestor shrine\, guided meditation and sound bath\, solo time on the land\, a shared meal with ancestral offering\, and story council. \nHeld on the ancestral homeland of the Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok peoples\, Open Sky Retreat Space offers a spacious meditation hall and eight acres of land to wander\, with grazing sheep and a guardian llama\, panoramic views\, gazebos\, gardens\, and abundant birdlife—each supporting grounding\, presence\, and belonging. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact Info \nFor more information\, contact O at: o.aschreiber@gmail.com or Cynthia/Eisho at: eisho@cynthiamorrow.com \n  \nRegister and Submit Deposit\n×Policy Acknowledgement\, Registration\, and Deposit \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read our policies and registration information.
