“When we look into our own bodily formation, we see Mother Earth inside us,
and so the whole universe is inside us… this is the highest possible form of prayer.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Join us at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, the ancestral homeland- past, present, and future- of the Wappo people. Here, rolling hills and spring wildflower blooms offer a living mirror for our own inner nature. Together, we step out of the pace of daily life and into a shared field of presence, grounded in relationship with the living Earth. The abundance of new growth and blossoming life invites reflection on the cycles of renewal within our own inner landscape. Here, the land invites us into embodied presence—remembering how renewal arises through patience, tending, and rooted belonging.
Rooted in earth-based awareness and Buddhist contemplative practice, we will explore awakening not only for ourselves, but as a relational, compassionate, and collective experience that benefits all beings. Through sitting meditation and deep listening with the land, we will reflect on the awakened nature that already abides within us and within the wider web of life.
Our time together will include guided and silent sitting, walking meditation on the land, Dharma reflections, and opportunities for council-style sharing. With the land as teacher and sangha as container, we are invited to listen deeply—to ourselves, to one another, and to the more-than-human world.
This offering is open to people at all stages of contemplative practice. No prior experience is necessary. Participants are invited to arrive with curiosity, care, and a willingness to be present with what is arising, moment by moment.
