Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy. I choose joy over despair.
Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift.”

The Miracles are Everywhere ~ by Reet Rannik Carias

Do you ever feel astonished at our great luck?

that we happen to live at the perfect distance from the sun,

what scientists call the Goldilocks zone

where the conditions are ripe for liquid water to exist

and for all of life on Earth to be possible because of it?

Do you ever feel astonished at our great luck? that the technology of trees

and our lungs were woven from the same threaded coding

that we happen to inhale what trees exhale and that they inhale what we exhale?

That underground, mycelial networks, allow for trees to talk to each other, sharing nutrients and wisdom

The miracles are everywhere.

The Sun came up again today giving energy to plants, people, and animals alike, making flowers bloom again

making my heart sing again

The Moon stabilizes Earths tilt, creating predictable seasons and controlling ocean tides that sustain marine life,

she comes out most nights waxing and waning marking continuity for us all

underneath the dark cloak of the night sky, we all see the same single moon.

Do you ever feel astonished by our great luck?

The sky can turn blue, grey, purple, pink, and orange and the clouds carry dreams and water across the dimensions

The Earth constantly recycles our water, every drop we drink has been part of an ancient cycle of rivers, clouds, and oceans

Every drop of water has made it through our ancestorsbodies and the same water will carry over into our future childrens bodies.

do you ever feel astonished by our luck?

we woke up today, our hearts beat without us having to think too hard about it

our stomachs digest without us having to be conscious about it

our eyes blink on their own, our throat swallows… and trillions of bacteria in our gut help us digest food, make vitamins, and even influence our emotions

Each and every single one of our organs and cells

are doing their own sacred dance,

serving their own important function

allowing us to be here, still

The miracles are humming beneath our feet.

The Earths gravitational pull grounds us

preventing us from floating off

into outer space!

and when we walk over the skin of the earth

with our bare feet

the Earths electromagnetic field

reduces our inflammation, relieves stress, depression, and anxiety

The miracles breathe with us

Phytoplankton, tiny ocean organisms, produce over half of the oxygen we breathe,

unseen

but essential little creatures

that nourish our lungs

Bees, butterflies, and birds

sustain our nourishment & food supply,

turning flowers into fruits

through their ancient agreements with plants

The miracles are everywhere

the spring has come again

the nettles have told me

the magnolias, woodsorrels, cherry blossoms, and lupines have told me

Do you ever feel astonished by our great luck that we see life in colors?

can hear a waterfall of birds chirping?

the layered symphony of finches, sparrows, and morning doves, each carrying an ancient song?

smell the evergreen trees

taste decadent chocolate, and feel the way it melts slowly on the tongue

releasing the memory of sunlight and soil?

let your heart be a child

overcome with ecstatic awe, joy, and wonder

let your heart be empty, let it be a vessel to hold all that is true

let your heart ride a lightning bolt

let your heart be a hummingbird pollinating joy, generosity, and loving-kindness

let your heart be the ocean, the rivers, and creeks feeding all of life

let your heart be the tongue

that can taste the beauty of this life

are you not astonished by your luck?

the miracles are everywhere

Perhaps you have food in the fridge that has been imported and traveled the skies eastward, westward, north, and south.

Perhaps you drink cacao or coffee that had to be nourished from the alchemical magic and conversation of the sun, skywater, soil, and winds

nourished by compost, tended by bees and pollinators alike, and tended by hardworking humans with a whole life force ~ mana ~ emanating and bubbling out of their center

and then such beans had to be harvested, processed, dried, packaged, transported and hopefully, someone said a little prayer or sang a little song in between or throughout. Is this collaborative chain of people, plants, and animals not sacred?

the miracles are everywhere

are you not astonished?

The miracles are waiting to be seen.

What will you do with this great luck?

How will you honor the miracles youve been given?
