Come as You Are

Many people who sign up for our EarthWays programs will say they “felt called” to sign up. Even many of our first timers will take a leap of faith, trusting that a “day walk” or a longer “wilderness fast” is just what they want to do. Others however are not so certain, wondering if they have the physical capacity, or even the emotional preparedness, to join a group of people they don’t know. Afterall, the unknown can be scary!

When we say “everyone is invited to join our programs”, we want you to know that we accept almost everyone. We practice inclusivity and sensitivity to the many different expressions of human beings. If you are a first timer checking out our offerings and are wondering, “Is this program for me?”, talk to us. You and your guides can have some conversation that will help you decide if this program will be in the best service to you.

The foundation of all of our programs is The Practice of Council, https://waysofcouncil.net/what-is-council, and/or The Circle Way, http://www.thecircleway.net. Though it is not required, we invite you to become familiar with these practices so you have some idea of what to expect in the shared group experience of the programs we offer.

We often say, “Come as you are, with all your vulnerability and confidence”. You do not have to be brave or smart enough. Our experienced facilitation creates a safe container, and we aim to hold all of your experience of being with us.

So, if you have any hesitation in registering for a certain program, contact us! We’d love to talk with you. We won’t offer you a hard sell. We will be curious and gentle in asking you what draws you to a wilderness program at this time. And we can discover together whether a certain program is right for you.
